Details

In August 2017 the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change granted consent for the East Anglia Three Offshore Wind Farm Order 2017 (“the Order”) which included, in Schedules 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15, six Deemed Marine Licences (DMLs) in accordance with Section 149 of the Planning Act 2008. On 16 July 2020 the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) received a request from the Project to vary the DMLs for East Anglia Three (Schedules 10-13) contained within the Order. The request was to make the following key changes:

The changes in OSS parameters subject to the NMC application are:

  • Reduction in the number of OSSs from 6 to 1;
  • Increase in the number of pin piles per OSS jacket leg from 1 to 4; and
  • Increase in the number of legs of the OSS from 4 to 6.

The changes in WTG parameters subject to the NMC application are:

  • Increase in the maximum tip height of 247 m to 262 m (relative to Lowest Astronomic Tide (LAT));
  • Increase in the minimum air draft of all WTGs from 22 m to 24 m (relative to (Mean High Water Springs (MHWS));
  • Increase in maximum rotor diameter from 220 m to 230 m; and
  • Reduction in the maximum, total number of WTGs from 172 to 121.

The MMO’s decision was to vary the DML as detailed in the Notice of Variation, effective from 26 November 2021.
